The author notes that there is currently an insufficient level of international legal regulation of sustainable investment, and different states' legislation on relevant issues adheres to different approaches. In this regard, the author concludes that at present, the norms of the so-called "soft law" play the most important role in regulating investment activities. The paper classifies soft law norms depending on the source of origin and provides an overview of some of the most significant sources of soft law. The author uses specific examples to demonstrate how investors and enterprises implementing an investment project use soft law in their activities.
