Is any form of extremism against the law?
Abstract
The article is concerned with the concept of extremism approached from the legal perspective as an illegal activity. Based on the analysis of Russian legislation and law enforcement practices to oppose extremism it discovers that this concept is fraught with ambiguity and attempts to set criteria to distinguish extremism from any other activities. Among the criteria is that extremism poses a threat to state and public safety.
