The authors consider the problems of criminal law to counter the spread of drug-related crimes committed using information and telecommunications networks (including the Internet). Searches for information about drugs in the global network are also monitored for data collection. Based on the state of drug-related data using the Internet, international and foreign legislation, an assessment of the validity of the method of criminal inducement to consumption of drugs via the Internet is analysed. It is proposed that the composition of the declination to the consumption of drugs (Article 230 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) be supplemented by a qualification providing for this method of inducement to consumption of drugs. The conclusion is that using this feature will increase the preventative potential of criminal law by expanding the scope of the crime. Refs 2. Table 1.
