The purpose of criminal proceedings and its importance in defining the method of criminal proceedings

Abstract

The article deals with the issue related to the method of criminal proceedings as a new notion for the science of criminal proceedings. It is especially important to understand the method of criminal proceedings for the purpose of its effective formation. The author emphasizes that the method of criminal proceedings depends on its cognitive purpose. The author refuses from truth as a cognitive purpose and suggests moving to a more concrete purpose which is capable of organizing the activity. Having specified the purpose, the author makes a conclusion that universality, entirety and neutrality of research comprise the method of Russian criminal proceedings.
