Abstract

In this paper the goal is to analyze the legal area of the formation and first steps of the independent Polish state at the beginning of XX; to define the place of Ukrainians of Eastern Galicia in this process; to reveal the individual stages, features and standards that were used by Poland in its journey towards independence. The rebirth of Poland that seized Eastern Galicia and Western Volhynia, had an impact on the further political and cultural development of the Ukrainian ethnos. The state proclaimed political, religious and personal freedom of the Ukrainian population, but it always felt discrimination. All of that contributed to the revitalization of the Ukrainian national movement in Eastern Galicia, which is headed by the four main political parties: the Ukrainian People's Labor Party, the Ukrainian Radical Party, the Ukrainian Social-Democratic Party, the Ukrainian Christian-Social Party.
