Abstract

This article reviews an approach that handles the civil-law relation from the perspective of Aristotle’s theory of four causes (formal, material, efficient and final). In this context the formal cause of a civil-law relation would be the rule of civil law, material cause would be the social (actual) matter representing the social interaction of persons, efficient cause would be the juridical facts and the final cause would be the satisfaction (realization) of legally relevant interests.
