The prevention of extremism and terrorism: Improving the tools used by teaching staff in educational institutions

Abstract

The article examines the trend of organizing and conducting preventive work to counter extremism and terrorism in educational institutions of the Russian Federation. The legal regulation of the issue of preventing extremism and terrorism at the federal level is being studied, strategic documents are being studied that create the basis for the activities of prevention subjects to create a sustainable rejection of terrorist-oriented ideas through comparative characteristics of Comprehensive Plans to Counter the ideology of terrorism in the Russian Federation for 2013–2018 and 2019–2023. The attitude of the teaching staff to the available educational work carried out in their educational institutions is analyzed with the help of a sociological survey aimed at assessing the qualitative and quantitative indicators of the organization of preventive measures. The article proposes a toolkit that will contribute to improving the literacy of teachers, social workers, and teaching staff who do not specialize in the field of jurisprudence on the legal and ethical component of presenting information on the topics of extremism and terrorism. It is proposed to improve the methodology of interaction with young people by testing the presented methodological material for the employees of the educational sphere themselves. Recommendations are given on the thematic content of applied methodological recommendations necessary for the subjects organizing the lesson, from the point of view of helping to improve the level of training of teachers, teachers in working with students to counter radical attitudes, extremism and terrorism.
